Where is the Future? | A Futurist’s Journey to England (2024)

Directed and Produced by Fabrice Guerrier

In his debut documentary, science fiction writer and futurist Fabrice Guerrier embarks on a profound and visually compelling journey to England, exploring the future through the lens of imagination, history, and societal transformation. Where is the Future? chronicles Guerrier’s first-ever trip to Lancaster and London, where he delves into pressing questions of what lies ahead for humanity.

Attending the Anticipation Conference at Lancaster University to co-facilitate a collaborative worldbuilding workshop, Guerrier engages with forward-thinking minds and captures insightful interviews with futurists, scholars, and creatives who are collectively reimagining the future of our world. Set against the backdrop of iconic British landscapes, the film blends these interviews with Guerrier’s personal reflections on the remnants of colonialism, his observations on urban life, and his deep-rooted belief in the power of radical imagination to shape tomorrow.

Shot entirely on an iPhone 13 Pro, this innovative documentary combines vlogs, interviews, b-roll, and evocative commentary to create a raw, intimate experience that invites viewers to ponder the question: Where is the future? As much a personal exploration as it is a global reflection, Guerrier’s film weaves together speculative thought and grounded realities to inspire new ways of thinking about the world we are building.
